The medical scrubs – what should it be? – Simple: Dynamic, as characteristic as its wearer.
Schooling and on-the-job-training nurses, garb their nursing school uniforms as if they are already practicing the profession – general dress-rehearsal so to speak, only that they wear their costume always. What is the purpose?
The expensive cost of the nursing school uniforms is just a minor factor. The nursing school uniforms are the same with the formal attires used in the practice of the nursing profession whether an RN-Registered Nurse or LN/VN-Licensed (Practical)/Vocational Nurse. Hence, the highest quality nursing school uniforms although also the most expensive ones could still be used until after graduating from the basic nursing course. And almost all nursing school uniforms are the same in the different nursing schools in the US. If the nursing student cross-enrolls then the only thing that he would have to change in his nursing uniform is the name tag/patch. The general uniformity in the pattern of the nursing school uniforms is because the uniforms more or less have the same purposes – providing comfort, protection, and sanitation for the dynamic medical nurse, plus – expert habitualization in the profession. This doesn’t mean though that the nurses are disadvantaged with limited and boring nursing uniform styles that also don’t fit the work-trimmed body perfectly. In fact, there are a range of choices for medical nursing uniforms.
Not only are medical nursing uniforms available in discount prices for wholesale/bulk-buying, but the uniforms are also available in various sizes, customized pattern, and personalized designs. Some nursing school uniforms even have fun-in-work-toony-form themes. The Cherokee uniforms and scrubs are designed for more comfort and looks-confidence in the nursing workplace. CREST scrubs and uniforms on the other have a comfortable fit and feel. Landau brand is also available for new trends of medical scrubs and uniforms, while the Barco uniforms has been an expert in the uniform business continuing their lead in the traditional medical, nursing scrubs, and corporate identity looks. Another designer for nursing school uniforms is the Dickies online scrubs. There are a lot to choose from. The nursing school uniforms are not totally restricted to such categories as top-pant scubs, warm-ups/jackets, white dresses, tunics, Oxford-shirt, maternity, smocks, unisex, 41”coats or 30/32” jacket lab-wear. Medical scrubs-pants alone are available in different designs and patterns like basic pant, cell-phone pant, knit cuff & cargo pant, topstitch wide-leg pant, wide-leg drawstring pant, wide-leg side-vent drawstring pant, jean-style-flare leg-pant, etc. Some uniforms even especially have bar-tacked stitching at the stress points or dyed-to-match ring-snap closures.
Nonetheless, all nursing school uniforms feature impeccable tailoring and attention to detail, and have superior color-retention and stain-resilient against frequent dirt-washes. You can tell that a medical scrub uniform is of the finest quality as they are the brighter whites while also being wrinkle-resistant for frequent arduous movement. Crisp clean uniforms are essential for sanitation reasons as well as professional appearance in the medical nursing field. Nursing school uniform pockets are just as life-saving, and don’t forget, the shoes.

As times change, the clothing worn by doctors and nurses in the hospital have changed, too. They used to wear starched white uniforms accompanied by a white cap, white stockings, white socks and a fitted dress. But now this traditional dress has been replaced by medical scrubs.
Medical scrubs, or medical dress, have become the uniform of those who work in the medical field. Today’s medical scrubs are available in many designs, patterns, colors and materials. It’s easy to choose the best medical scrub for your needs. The Internet offers a wide array of medical scrubs made by various companies. If you want to take advantage of wholesale discounts, you can pool buying resources with your colleagues and buy in bulk. This will lower the per-piece price for everyone in the pool.
Drawstring pants and pullover tops have replaced traditional front button and back buttoned scrubs. These are generally more comfortable for the medical staff to wear. You can also find medical scrubs decorated with cartoon characters, which are mainly worn by the doctors and nurses working in childcare and pediatric departments. This helps make the children feel comfortable. Most medical scrubs are made of cotton or poly-cotton blends, as they are comfortable and resist bad smells.
The Internet is the best place to find medical scrubs at a reasonable price. But before buying one, make sure that the company is legitimate, and also be aware of their return policy. So if you are starting a medical practice you can buy the best medical scrub on the market, for complete comfort and maximum mobility.

Uniforms signify dedication and discipline. Nursing uniforms help create the proper atmosphere in a hospital. If the uniform is in a color that is not at all soothing, like blood-red or fluorescent green, that could bother the person who is being treated. Therefore, a nursing uniform is designed to consider the impact on the patient regarding his well-being and fast recovery.
However, in recent days there has been a lot of debate on the topic. The complexities of nursing uniforms were reviewed and analyzed in an article in the year 2002.
If we look back at the history of the nursing uniforms, we might get some interesting facts: as early as the 1800s, the nursing uniform represented the ’state of the art’ protection for the ‘visiting nurse’. It was popularly called the ‘fever proof uniform’ and it covered most of the body– but the nurse never wore any gloves or mask.
The 1840s saw the introduction of new nursing uniforms which portrayed the patriarchy of the time that reigned all over society. The dress signified and continued those dresses reminiscent of the female ’servant’ of the time.
Times have now changed and there has been a lot of work on the uniforms of the nurses. There is new material with which most of the nurse uniforms are made. The uniforms are called scrubs. Scrubs are of the finest quality and come with wrinkle resistance. Nowadays it has become easier to get a nursing uniform, as they are available online in cheap prices.

Medical Scrubs began to be used in the twentieth century when the medical profession started to see the importance of a clean environment for surgery and medical care. Before standardized uniforms were used regularly, surgeons performed operations and care in their street clothes with a cover or apron to keep their clothes clean. During the flu pandemic of 1918 doctors began to wear masks but it was more for their protection than their patient’s protection from infection. In the 1940s awareness of wound infection and the need to have a sanitary operating room prompted the first use of medical uniforms and clothing. The first scrubs were gowns or drapes that covered the surgeon and staff while operating.
When medical clothing began to be used regularly in operating rooms in the 1950s and 1960s they were made with white fabric to demonstrate cleanliness. The bright white fabric of the uniform in the white operating rooms began to strain the medical staff’s eyes and eventually scrubs began to be made in colors like blue, green, pink and yellow. Now the majority of staff are required to wear some form of standardized medical uniform whenever in a clean environment.
Today’s scrubs are usually short-sleeved, v-neck shirts with draw string pants they also include jackets and gowns and come in various colors and bright prints, these bright prints are particularly good for personnel who work with children. Scrubs also come in various durable, colorful fabrics that can be easily cleaned and withstand the rigorous use and abuse of the medical field profession.

Medical scrubs are worn by many types of professionals, not only doctors and nurses, but those who are in the dental field, in the hair transplant field and even those who are in physical therapy. If you are considering any job in the medical field, you could very well be wearing medical scrubs for a long time to come. Medical scrubs are a way for you to protect yourself during surgery, while dealing with patients, and for patients to realize who you are and also that they are dealing with a professional. It can be easy to find medical scrubs, but finding the medical scrubs that are going to be affordable is what we aim to provide you with.
The colors of the uniform
Medical scrubs often times are available in many different colors. Depending on the rules and regulations of where you are working, you may be able to choose from solid colors, or a color that fits your level in your job. Sometimes those who work with children will wear prints of teddy bears or hearts, while those who are involved in surgery will wear green. Often times those who work head on with patients will wear green, and often times nurses are going to wear white in the emergency room. Be sure to check with your employer before making a purchase, so you know if you are permitted to wear anything that is out of the norm for your job.

Proxima Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that Iotrex(R), the proprietary liquid radiation source for its GliaSite Radiation Therapy System (RTS) for brain cancer, has received a current procedural terminology (CPT) pass-through code under the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The establishment of special payment for Iotrex broadens reimbursement for GliaSite and should allow more Medicare beneficiaries to receive outpatient treatment. The pass-through code should also make it easier for hospitals to manage the billing and reimbursement process for GliaSite. The code goes into effect on January 1, 2003.
The GliaSite RTS provides a safe and convenient radiation treatment option for patients with brain tumors. After surgery to remove the tumor, this technology internally delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the edges of the tumor cavity, targeting places where cancer may remain while minimizing the potential for damage to healthy tissue. This system is currently being used to treat patients with newly diagnosed or recurrent malignant gliomas, as well as metastatic brain tumors. An NCI-sponsored clinical study of GliaSite in patients with recurrent malignant gliomas demonstrated a median survival of 387 days, with 52 percent of subjects still alive one year following treatment.
“We are pleased that CMS has assigned a pass-through code for Iotrex,” said Timothy Patrick, president and chief executive officer of Proxima Therapeutics, Inc. “While GliaSite is becoming available to patients at an increasing number of centers throughout the country, we expect this code to encourage even broader adoption of this important therapy on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.”

The College of American Pathologists has developed the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine, Reference Terminology (SNOMED RT) for use in the electronic health record. SNOMED RT is more granular and provides more detail than traditional codes. More than 190,000 terms with associated concepts and relationships help document information on: diagnoses; procedures (including all clinical actions); social context; causes of injury or disease; anatomy; drugs, medical specialties; and demographics. SNOMED codes also support findings, conclusions and assessments (such as a patient’s mental state or functional capabilities).
CPT and ICD codes are used in health records for billing purposes, but many healthcare enterprises are not yet using a clinical reference terminology in addition to these billing codes. Using a clinical reference terminology with billing codes may actually increase reimbursement because the physician can document a more complete picture of a patient’s condition and the procedures used to treat him or her, and thus select the most appropriate CPT or ICD code.
SNOMED RT complements standard billing codes by providing a more detailed description of the patient encounter with consistent coding for clinical terms and concepts. The hierarchies and relationships of SNOMED RT expand functionality for complete and consistent retrieval of information, making data more accessible wherever and whenever it is needed.

Cambridge Heart, Inc. (NASDAQ-CAMH) announced today that a Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code with a specific Medicare payment amount for its Microvolt T-Wave Alternans testing has been published in the Federal Register. Effective January 1, 2002, CPT code 93025 may be billed electronically. The national Medicare payment amount for the test will be $263.53.
The code is unique to Microvolt T-Wave Alternans and may be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic cardiovascular tests when submitting for reimbursement of claims to either Medicare or private insurers. For the first time, providers will be able to file for reimbursement of a Microvolt T-Wave Alternans Test electronically and be confident of the amount of payment.
“We are pleased to see a reimbursement amount for Microvolt T-Wave Alternans that reflects its importance as a key tool in the diagnostic armamentarium of the cardiologist,” stated David A. Chazanovitz, President and CEO of Cambridge Heart, Inc. “Our customers can now perform an alternans test on appropriate patients knowing that the reimbursement filing process has been simplified and that a reasonable payment is available.”
Mr. Chazanovitz also stated, “This removes a significant barrier to our efforts to increase market penetration and establish broad clinical use of our technology and ultimately establish Microvolt T-Wave Alternans as a standard of care for patients at risk of sudden cardiac death.”
About the Cambridge Heart Microvolt T-Wave Alternans Test
The Cambridge Heart Microvolt T-Wave Alternans Test measures extremely subtle beat-to-beat fluctuations in a person’s heartbeat called T-wave alternans. These minute heartbeat variations - measured at one millionth of a volt - are detected at elevated heart rates. Extensive clinical research has shown that patients with symptoms of or at risk of life threatening arrhythmias who test positive for Microvolt T-Wave Alternans are at significant risk for subsequent sudden cardiac events including sudden death.
About Cambridge Heart
Cambridge Heart is engaged in the research, development and commercialization of products for the non-invasive diagnosis of cardiac disease. Using innovative technologies, the company is addressing such key problems in cardiac diagnosis as the identification of those at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, the early detection of coronary artery disease, and the prompt and accurate diagnosis of heart attack. The Company, founded in 1992, is based in Bedford, Massachusetts and is traded on the NASDAQ/NMS under the symbol CAMH. Cambridge Heart can be found on the World Wide Web at www.cambridgeheart.com.
